New law removes requirement for businesses to check ID’s
SUMMARY: A new law in Oklahoma removes the requirement for businesses to check IDs, giving bartenders more discretion. Previously, bartenders had to ID everyone, even older adults, which led to situations like a 90-year-old man being asked for ID. While businesses now have more freedom, they remain liable for serving minors, so many still choose to check IDs. The Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission encourages ID checks to ensure patrons are of legal age, though businesses are free to follow their own policies. The law, effective since May, allows businesses to decide when ID checks are necessary.

What to do to prepare your pipes when winter weather hits Oklahoma
SUMMARY: Oklahoma City experienced its first freeze, prompting discussions about winter preparations. Meteorologist Joseph Neubauer emphasizes the importance of winterizing homes to protect pipes and faucets from freezing. David Barnes from Oklahoma County Emergency Management advises homeowners to be familiar with their plumbing systems, including knowing how to shut off water in case of a burst pipe. To prevent freezing, it’s recommended to keep faucets dripping slightly and to insulate exterior faucets. Additionally, opening cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate can further help safeguard plumbing during colder months. Overall, proactive measures are crucial for winter readiness.
