FRIDAY NIGHT FEVER: High School football scores and highlights from October 11th (Part 2)
SUMMARY: Boonville High School was recognized as the “Band of the Week,” while Nettleton High School was honored as the “Cheer of the Week” for their vibrant pink pom poms supporting breast cancer awareness. In last night’s action, Morville defeated the Tigers. Starkville Academy faced Jackson Academy in a homecoming game, but the Raiders won 38-13. Houston Hill Toppers enjoyed their homecoming with exciting moments, including a fumbled snap turned touchdown. Tuscaloosa Academy triumphed over Lamar County 35-7. Magnolia Heights and Kirk Academy also secured victories, as New Albany remained unbeaten, looking to keep their winning streak alive through the upcoming region games.

Oktoberfest returns to Pearl for another year

Weddle takes oath of office as new Mississippi Court of Appeals judge
SUMMARY: Judge John Wed was officially sworn in as a Mississippi Court of Appeals judge this afternoon after being appointed by Governor Tate Reeves last September. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and colleagues, celebrating his three decades of legal experience, including his recent role as district attorney for the First Circuit Judicial District since 2015. He has also been a public defender and served on the Mississippi Corrections and Criminal Justice Task Force. Judge Wed succeeds Judge Jim Greenley, and his official term will begin on October 14th. He expressed determination to embrace new challenges as he takes on this role.
Newly-appointed Mississippi Court of Appeals Judge John Weddle took the oath of office on Friday.
