Freezing temperatures could refreeze roads overnight
SUMMARY: After Friday’s winter storm, most main roads in Knoxville are now drivable thanks to sun and road crews. However, freezing temperatures tonight will cause unsafe driving conditions, especially on side streets, shaded areas, and hilly terrain. Jim Snowden of Knox County Engineering reports that many major roads are back to normal, but some remain in fair condition with patches of snow and ice. Emergency management leaders in neighboring counties report similar conditions, advising drivers to stay alert and slow down. Over 100 car crashes occurred over the weekend due to the storm’s impact.
Most main roads are driveable again but freezing temperatures could create some problem spots on side roads.

SUMMARY: Good morning! We’re sharing snow stories from the weekend, with temperatures now in the 20s and 30s as many families enjoy the remaining snow. Warming trends will continue this week, with improvements expected for roads despite refreezing overnight. As we approach the weekend, highs in the 40s and 50s are expected, leading to more melting. Two Families Sue After 11-Year-Old and 13-Year-Old Students Were Arrested Under Tennessee’s School Threat Law
SUMMARY: Two families have filed lawsuits against an East Tennessee school district, claiming violations of students’ rights after school officials called the police under a law targeting threats of mass violence. One lawsuit involves an 11-year-old who was arrested after joking about a school shooting; another concerns a 13-year-old with disabilities, handcuffed for mentioning a “blow up” backpack containing only a stuffed animal. The lawsuits argue that the district’s actions, driven by a zero-tolerance policy, infringe on First Amendment rights and fail to adequately consider students with disabilities. Advocates are pushing for legislative changes to protect vulnerable students from unjust criminal charges.
