David Smith, father of sons murdered by ex-wife Susan Smith, speaks in opposition to her parole
SUMMARY: In a poignant statement to the committee, a father advocated against the release of his children’s mother, who is serving a life sentence for their deaths. Reflecting on the lasting emotional trauma, he expressed that her actions were intentional and that she had never shown remorse. The father, who revealed that the grief led him to contemplate suicide, argued that the 30-year sentence was insufficient, given the severity of the crime. He pleaded for the committee to deny her release, vowing to attend future hearings to ensure justice for his children.
David Smith, the father of 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, spoke in opposition at the parole hearing for his ex-wife Susan Smith, who murdered the two boys in 1994.

Proposal would keep men out of women’s spaces on federal property | South Carolina
SUMMARY: South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has introduced the Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act, aiming to prevent men, including those identifying as women, from using women’s private spaces like bathrooms, locker rooms, and prisons on federal property. Mace, responding to critics, emphasized the need to protect women’s safety and privacy. Her proposal aligns with similar views from President-elect Donald Trump on keeping men out of women’s spaces. Mace has won her past three elections, solidifying her credibility. Heritage Action supports her stance, stating it’s a step towards restoring truth by protecting sex-specific facilities.
