Fred Haise statue gains attention

SUMMARY: The Biloxi lighthouse has gained a lot of attention recently because spikes have been placed on top of the statue of Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise. Residents are confused by the spikes and some are calling for them to be removed. Richard Stefanini, who walks past the statue all the time, says that the spikes are a risk and should be taken down.

The City of Biloxi put spikes on top of the statue last week in an effort to preserve it.

FIRST ALERT: Light showers possible early Monday (4/20/2025)

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Taylor Graham forecasts warm and humid weather for South Mississippi following Easter Sunday. Overnight, coastal temperatures will remain in the low 70s, while inland areas may drop to the upper 60s. A cold front approaching from the north could trigger hit-or-miss showers and storms on Monday and Tuesday, especially west of Highway 49. Daytime temperatures will rise into the low to mid 80s, with high humidity making it feel warmer. By the weekend, a ridge of high pressure is expected, leading to sunnier conditions and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, with decreasing rain chances.

Happy Easter! Meteorologist Taylor Graham brings the latest 7-day forecast for the final full week of April.

Expert Talk – Senior Medicare Patrol (Telehealth Fraud)

SUMMARY: In this episode of WXXV’s Expert Talk, host Michelle Eubank welcomes Danielle Gillery from Senior Medicare Patrol to discuss telehealth, which gained prominence during the COVID pandemic. Telehealth allows patients to consult with doctors via video calls rather than in person. However, telehealth fraud occurs when individuals are billed for services from providers they’ve never interacted with, such as cases where nurses, rather than doctors, diagnose readings. Gillery advises viewers who suspect fraud to contact Medicare or the Senior Medicare Patrol for assistance. The organization provides resources to help resolve billing issues and combat scams.
