Foxworth man faces terrorist, kidnapping charges stemming from active shooter alert

SUMMARY: A 76-year-old man, Timothy Ward, was arrested for kidnapping and making terroristic threats after entering Maran County Primary School with an airsoft pistol. The incident occurred around 7:20 AM as staff were arriving for work. Upon realizing he didn’t belong, staff attempted to escort him out, but Ward brandished the airsoft gun and held two staff members against their will. A custodian intervened, subduing Ward until deputies arrived. Within minutes, the school went into lockdown, ensuring safety. Ward is being held at Maran County Jail as authorities determine the next steps in the investigation.

Wreckage cleared from Vicksburg train derailment site

SUMMARY: Vicksburg fire officials report that all rail cars from the Thursday derailment at Malberry and Oak streets have been cleared, and rail traffic has resumed. A 50-year-old man sustained serious injuries during the incident and was transported to University Medical Center in Jackson.
