Founders of DC’s Corner Water tell how students inspired them | NBC4 Washington
SUMMARY: Jerome Nesbit and Ronnie Webb, founders of Corner Water, were inspired to create DC’s official water bottle while teaching sustainability to students in Ward 8. They identified a gap in access to high-quality water options during a food justice assignment. Established in 2021, Corner Water sources its product from a local Virginia spring, emphasizing freshness. In 2023, they rebranded their bottles in aluminum and featured a Metro map design, aligning with DC’s culture. They’ve also become the preferred water for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, recently launching themed bottles and hosting river cleanups with local students to promote health and environmental awareness.
Corner Water bills itself as D.C.’s official water bottle, with cherry blossoms and the Metro map printed on the labels. The founders told News4’s Juliana Valencia how Ward 7 and Ward 8 students inspired them.

Families of Key Bridge collapse victims place wreaths in river 1 year later | NBC4 Washington
SUMMARY: One year after the tragic collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, families of the six victims held a wreath-laying ceremony in the Patapsco River. The bridge fell when the Dolly cargo ship struck it, resulting in significant shutdowns at the Port of Baltimore. Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott joined the grieving families to honor their loved ones, who were construction workers at the time. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the lives lost and the ongoing mourning for husbands, fathers, and brothers. The bridge is expected to be rebuilt and reopened by 2028.
Six wreaths were released into the waters where six construction workers died after Baltimore’s Key Bridge collapsed one year ago. News4’s Joseph Olmo reports.

‘We need your help’: Amelia County Food Pantry in need of new roof
SUMMARY: The Amelia County Food Pantry, located at the Church of Christ Apostolic Church in Jetersville, urgently needs a new roof due to leaks and extensive damage. Despite previous repair efforts, the 85-year-old building’s flat roof causes water to accumulate, worsening the problem. The pantry is calling on professional roofers or anyone who can help to continue their mission of feeding the hungry in Amelia County.
For more than 30 years, the Amelia County Food Pantry has been helping others. Now, they are asking the community for help to keep their building safe.
