Fort Worth man takes plea deal for murder; accused of 2nd killing in Mexico
SUMMARY: Jesus Rios, a Fort Worth man, accepted a 15-year plea deal for the murder of Fernando Mendoza Jr. in 2020, occurring after Rios shot Mendoza over a speeding confrontation. While out on bond, Rios fled to Mexico, where he allegedly committed a second murder of key witness Myra Gara, later found dead. Rios was arrested while attempting to return to the U.S. with a fake ID. Both victims’ families express dissatisfaction with the plea deal, feeling justice was not served.
