Fort Smith completes runway upgrades for international pilot training

SUMMARY: The Fort Smith Regional Airport has installed barrier cables at both ends of its runway, now undergoing testing as part of the Barrier Arresting . This system allows fighter jets to latch on in emergencies, with an F-16 jet currently testing it. Administrator Carl Geffken indicates that these installations are essential before allied country pilots begin on U.S. fighter jets. Polish pilots are expected to arrive in December followed by U.S. Force pilots from Eglin Air Force Base for setup verification. The Air Force will eventually a final on the cable barriers’ certification.

Suspect in second apparent Trump assassination attempt appears in court
