Forrest County couple pleads guilty in drowning death of daughter
SUMMARY: A man and a woman in Forrest County, Mississippi have been sentenced in connection to the drowning death of their infant daughter. Brittney Brady and Steven Busha pled guilty to charges related to the incident. On July 31, 2022, first responders were called to the couple’s home and transported their five-month-old girl to the hospital. She was later airlifted to another medical center where she passed away. Brady was charged with first degree murder and two counts of felony child neglect, while Busha was charged with three counts of felony child neglect. They both received 20-year sentences for culpable negligence manslaughter.

SUMMARY: A man was shot in Jackson, Mississippi, while attempting to assist a person with a stalled vehicle on State Street at Beasley Road around 4:00 p.m. on November 20. Detective Tommie Brown reported that the victim was working on the vehicle when the suspect approached, questioned him, and then opened fire. The assailant fled the scene in a vehicle. Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
