Former Rankin County Tax Collector clerk pleads guilty to embezzlement

SUMMARY: Brittney Phillips, a former clerk at the Rankin County Tax Collector’s Office in Mississippi, pled guilty to embezzlement. Arrested in November 2023, Phillips admitted to embezzling cash by not registering car tags and taking the payments. She was served with a $36,583.47 demand at her arrest. State Auditor Shad White commended the teamwork between the Tax Collector’s Office, investigators, and prosecutors. Phillips received a 10-year sentence, with six years suspended, four years to serve, and five years of supervised probation. All aboard Delta flight survive after plane flips while landing in Toronto
