Former MBI officer pleads guilty
SUMMARY: The defense filed an appeal for a former “M-B-I” officer who used excessive force against a handcuffed teenager, captured by a Ring doorbell camera. The officer, assigned to the U.S. Marshals’ Task Force, punched the handcuffed teenager in the face outside a Jackson home during a murder investigation. The Department of Justice’s news release acknowledged the incident, stating the teen was already handcuffed and being escorted when he was hit. The officer faces up to 10 years in prison. The appeal was filed with the state Supreme Court, and the incident was brought to light by 16 WAPT in September 2021.

11/14- Feeling more like fall, but much colder air is in view
SUMMARY: In Meridian, the average first frost occurs by late October, and although temperatures dipped into the upper 30s recently, a widespread frost has yet to happen. The average first freeze is around November 7, indicating we are overdue. A cold front is bringing cooler temperatures, with lows expected in the 40s. This weekend will feature average temperatures, but a warm-up begins Monday.
