Meggan Monday: Feed My Sheep makes sure no one goes hungry
SUMMARY: Feed My Sheep, a Gulfport outreach program established in 1983, works to ensure no one in the community goes hungry. The program serves over 350 people daily, including delivering meals to elderly, homebound, or disabled individuals. Executive Director David Lion, a long-time volunteer who became director during COVID-19, shared that the program also supports homeless individuals, including those recovering from addiction. With rising food costs, they now serve about 600 meals a day. The community’s support and volunteers have been vital, as Feed My Sheep hasn’t held a fundraiser since 2017. They’ll also provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal for those in need.
