Former Express Grain owner faces up to 30 years in prison for wire fraud
SUMMARY: Former Express Grain owner, John R. Coleman, from Greenwood, Mississippi, faces a maximum of 30 years in prison for wire fraud. The 47-year-old admitted to falsifying financial statements to acquire a warehouse license, lying about grain debt, and claiming financial stability despite impending bankruptcy. Coleman’s actions led to Express Grain’s bankruptcy in 2021, harming Mississippi Delta farmers. U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner emphasized the need for accountability due to the significant adverse effects on farmers. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and IRS-CI, are investigating, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Clayton A. Dabbs prosecutes. Sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
