Former death row inmate in Mississippi to be resentenced to life with possibility of parole
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Supreme Court has ruled that a former death row inmate, Howard M. Neal, will be resentenced due to his intellectual disabilities. The new sentence will make him eligible for parole. Neal was convicted in 1982 for the kidnapping and killing of his 13-year-old half-niece. In 2002, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the execution of people with intellectual disabilities is unconstitutional. Neal’s case is considered similar to another death row inmate in Mississippi with intellectual disabilities, whose sentence was changed in 2015. The court documents do not mention Neal being interviewed about his connection to other killings in California.

Trump says he will issue an executive order Monday to get TikTok back up
SUMMARY: President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the deadline for TikTok’s China-based parent company, ByteDance, to find an approved U.S. buyer. This decision follows the removal of TikTok from app stores due to a federal law requiring ByteDance to sell its U.S. operations or face a ban, citing national security concerns. Trump’s order would delay the law’s restrictions, offering ByteDance more time to negotiate a sale. Despite challenges, including TikTok’s legal disputes, Trump emphasized the app’s potential value and the importance of keeping it operational in the U.S.
