Former Amory basketball star recognized on a national level
SUMMARY: Amory basketball star Dot Ford Burrow has been inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame, 75 years after her exceptional performance at Smithville High School. Recognized for scoring 82 points in a single game and averaging nearly 50 points per game during the 1949-1950 season, her career was overlooked due to limited coverage of women's sports at the time. Burrow's legacy continues through her athletic family, including her husband James Burrow, son Jimmy Burrow, and grandson Joe Burrow, a Heisman Trophy winner and NFL star. She will be officially inducted on July 1.
