Food trucks team up with José Andrés to feed neighborhoods struggling after Helene
SUMMARY: Chef Jose Andres and his nonprofit, World Central Kitchen, are mobilizing food trucks in Florida to provide meals for neighborhoods impacted by Hurricane Helen. In Oldsmar, where over 500 homes were damaged, local chefs and food trucks are delivering free hot meals to community members in need. One of the participating food trucks, Fresh Jerk Grill, quickly joined the effort to support those devastated by the storm. World Central Kitchen has organized around 20 food trucks, showcasing the power of community support during difficult times, ensuring those affected receive nourishment and care when they need it most.

Hurricane Milton makes landfall in Florida | Florida
SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton struck Florida’s west coast near Siesta Key as a Category 3 storm late Wednesday, weakening to a Category 1 by 1 a.m. It left over 3.2 million residents without power and caused extensive flooding and wind damage, prompting mandatory evacuations and a state of emergency for 51 counties. Governor Ron DeSantis assured that fuel supplies were adequate, but distribution issues arose. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor issued dire warnings for those ignoring evacuation orders. Tornadoes were reported, and emergency services stopped responding ahead of the storm. Conditions are expected to improve as Milton moves further into the Atlantic.

Roof of baseball stadium blown off by winds in Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: Tropicana Field, a landmark in the Tampa Bay area since 1990, has suffered significant roof damage, with large sections shredded and ripped off. Observations indicate no structural damage, as the steel beams at the apex remain intact. However, the visible loss of large portions of the roof creates an unbelievable sight.

Florida man's home damaged in Hurricane Milton: 'All hell let loose'
SUMMARY: A tornado touched down around 6:30 PM, causing significant damage to homes in the area. Homeowner Gary described the terrifying moment, as he monitored news reports of tornado warnings. After the TV flickered, he and his wife rushed to the kitchen, where they witnessed the tornado descending. A loud bang followed, damaging their roof and walls with debris believed to be from a nearby Wells Fargo Bank. Gary nearly went outside to turn off a pool pump but was stopped by his wife moments before the storm hit, which they feel fortunate to have avoided. They are grateful to be safe despite the destruction.
FOX 35’s Stephanie Buffamonte is live in Cocoa Beach where a tornado caused extensive damage at a man’s home. Hurricane Milton spawned more than 130 tornado warnings across Florida as the storm moved through.
