Special session on condo relief still needs consensus as costs continue to rise
SUMMARY: Florida lawmakers face growing pressure to tackle rising costs for condo owners, with a special legislative session potentially on the horizon. The state House, Senate, and governor remain divided on necessary reforms, with concerns that the regular session starting March 4 may be too late. Condo owners report increased fees and struggles to sell properties, with insurance rates and post-Surfside regulations driving costs up significantly. Governor Ron DeSantis emphasizes the urgency of addressing the issue but acknowledges a lack of consensus among lawmakers. Calls for reforms include establishing uniform standards for repair assessments to prevent inflated costs.
