Flora apartment fire under investigation

Several restaurants forced to close due to gas leak explosion in Lee County
SUMMARY: A gas leak explosion near Highway 6 and County Road 660 in Lee County has resulted in the closure of several restaurants and impacted about 20,000 customers. It occurred Wednesday morning while workers attempted a gas leak repair, injuring at least two individuals whose conditions remain unknown. Lee County Supervisor Barry Parker reported that the explosion forcibly removed the workers’ clothing. Crews are currently shutting off gas at customer meters for safety checks and repairs, but full utility restoration will take time. Businesses are struggling, and many local eateries have closed due to the lack of natural gas for cooking.

3/12/25- Showers return Thursday / Significant Severe Risk by Saturday
SUMMARY: Starting tomorrow, we’ll shift from sunshine to daily showers, with a low severe weather risk in western areas. The storms, linked to an upper-level disturbance, could bring isolated severe weather with wind and hail. By Thursday, the threat is minimal but increases heading into Friday night and early Saturday. A level 3 risk on Saturday means numerous severe storms, including strong winds, hail, and potential tornadoes. The danger peaks after sunrise, with wind gusts up to 70 mph and possible EF2 tornadoes. After 9:00 p.m. Saturday, conditions will improve. Sunday looks more stable.
