SUMMARY: London Heathrow Airport resumed operations after an almost daylong closure caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation. Over 1,300 flights were canceled, affecting 200,000 passengers. While the airport’s backup power system functioned, it wasn’t sufficient to fully restore operations. British Airways, the largest airline at Heathrow, managed 85% of its flights on Saturday, but disruptions are expected to last for days. Authorities are investigating the incident, with concerns raised about the UK’s infrastructure preparedness. Despite criticism, Heathrow’s CEO praised staff for their swift response and acknowledged the complexity of recovering operations.

The Justice Department is also probing selective leaks about the Tren de Aragua gang. While polygraphs are often used for security, their reliability is questioned, and they are generally inadmissible in court.

Traffic disruptions have been severe, especially along US1, affecting commutes and events. Cardtown Road has been closed since Tuesday.
