Fleischmann: Congress should act now if more funds needed to protect Trump | Tennessee
SUMMARY: U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann of Tennessee is urging the FBI and U.S. Secret Service to testify before Congress following a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The Secret Service found a rifle aimed at Trump while he was at a golf club, though the gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, did not fire and faces federal charges. This incident follows a previous shooting at a Trump rally in July. Fleischmann emphasized the need for increased security resources for Trump. Other lawmakers, including Sen. Marsha Blackburn, demanded Trump receive the same protection as President Biden, citing unacceptable risks to his safety.

TV monitoring rainfall, weather conditions as storms move through East TN
SUMMARY: Tonight marks a 10 weather impact alert day as heavy rain fills lakes, rivers, and streams in East Tennessee, which has faced dry conditions recently. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) monitors water levels continuously and prepares for heavy rainfall from systems like hurricanes. TVA’s James Everett emphasizes the importance of balancing incoming rain with existing water levels in rivers and reservoirs, which are interconnected. Ahead of tropical events, TVA lowers reservoir levels to create flood storage. In the coming days, they will closely watch conditions to decide whether to store or release water based on rainfall amounts.
The Tennessee Valley Authority said it’s all about balancing the rain with how much water is already in the rivers, tributaries and reservoirs.
