Five Terry track athletes sign to run at next level
SUMMARY: Terry High School's track and field program has made significant improvements this year, with five Bulldogs signing to run on the next level. Natalie Black and Julius Phillips will run for Belhaven, Jaden Porter will throw for Rust College, Jason Williams signed with Hinds, and Kaden Flewellen became Terry's first D1 track signee in a decade by committing to MVSU. Nick Rogers also received an offer from Coahoma. These athletes expressed their emotions and gratitude for the opportunity to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Their hard work and dedication to the sport have paid off with this crowning moment.

Petal Fire Department names new assistant fire chief
SUMMARY: The Pedal Fire Department has appointed Will Lewis as the new assistant fire chief at the recent Board of Alderman meeting. Lewis, who has been with the Pedal Fire Department for years and has 20 years of fire service experience, expressed his excitement and honor for the new role. Fire Chief Maran Sim praised Lewis for successfully completing a rigorous selection process. Additionally, two new recruits were sworn in and will begin next week. Sim mentioned that while the department currently has no vacancies, opportunities might arise in the future. Applications can be submitted at Pedal City Hall from Monday to Friday.
Fire chief Marion Sims said Will Lewis proved himself after the department spent weeks looking for the right person.

Jones County man charged with 2nd-degree murder
SUMMARY: A suspect, Dwayne Clark of Laurel, has been charged with second-degree murder following a shooting in Jones County's Powers Community that resulted in the death of Charles Anderson. The Jones County Sheriff's Department responded to a disturbance and shots fired call, after which Anderson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
