Firefighters reflect on why they do what they do at annual Tupelo 9/11 Stair Climb

SUMMARY: Over the weekend, many people, including my family and me, participated in a stair climb event at the Cadence Bank Arena. This was my first time taking part, and it was a moving experience. The event was dedicated to remembering the events of 9/11, with moments of silence held for each significant moment. Firefighters turned on their pass devices during the silence to honor those who lost their lives. The walk involved three rounds around the arena, equivalent to the 110 floors of the twin towers. I spoke with some firefighters who shared their motivations for serving their communities. Around 300 people and 25 fire departments from North Mississippi participated, and the proceeds supported the Beds for Kids and Tunnel to Towers organizations.
