FEMA sends $6M to Sharkey County for tornado debris removal

SUMMARY: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded over $6 million to Sharkey County, Mississippi for debris removal operations following the tornadoes that hit the area in March. The funding was made available under the Robert T. Stafford Act. Rolling Fork, a town in Sharkey County, was hit particularly hard, experiencing 13 of the total 21 deaths and significant damage to infrastructure. In addition to FEMA’s contribution, individuals from across the country have provided financial aid and on-the-ground assistance to those affected by the storms. The Ole Miss football team has also aided in relief efforts.

Long Beach amends lease to begin process for developing casino

Mississippi College, Delta State players earn postseason football honors

For Mississippi College, running back Preston Godfrey was co-offensive freshman of the year, gaining 834 all-purpose yards, while linebacker Brady Weatherly earned defensive freshman of the year with 41 total tackles.
