Strong, unique passwords managed through a password manager are recommended, and connecting to unsecured public Wi-Fi is discouraged. FEMA suggests using credit cards over debit cards for better fraud protection and to regularly scrutinize bank statements. Prompt reporting of stolen information to local police and the FTC, along with immediate password changes, is also crucial for security.
