FBI says driver in New Orleans rampage acted alone, was '100%' inspired by Islamic State group
SUMMARY: The FBI confirmed that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran, acted alone when he drove a truck into a New Orleans crowd on New Year’s, inspired by the Islamic State. Jabbar, who posted five ominous videos on Facebook before the attack, was responsible for killing 14 people before being shot dead by police. The assault, the deadliest IS-related attack in the U.S. in years, exposed a rising terrorism threat. Authorities found Jabbar’s Islamic State flag in his truck and characterized the incident as premeditated terrorism. Investigators are examining his radicalization path while community recovery efforts progress.
