Favre’s former business associate pleads guilty
SUMMARY: In Mississippi’s welfare scandal, Dr. Jacob Vanlandingham pleaded guilty to wire fraud in federal court. He founded Prevacus, a drug company backed by Brett Favre for developing a concussion medication. Court documents revealed that former DHS Director John Davis allocated $2 million to the Mississippi Community Education Center, which redirected the funds to Prevacus. Vanlandingham could face up to 20 years in prison and fines of $250,000. State Auditor Shad White praised federal prosecutors and the FBI for their efforts in uncovering the case’s facts following Nancy New’s earlier guilty plea for her involvement.
