Fatal bus crash leaves 7 people killed in Warren Co.

SUMMARY: On August 31, a tragic bus crash in Warren County, Mississippi, resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including siblings Perla (16) and Kain Gutierrez (8). Perla died at the crash site, while Kain succumbed to his injuries at Merit Health. The fatalities also included five other individuals from Mexico: Miguel Arriaga (61), Victor Garcia (32), Moises A. Garcia (31), Elia Guzman (63), and Angelica Palomino (16), all of whom died at the scene. The accident occurred on Interstate 20 near Bovina early in the morning, injuring 37 others on the bus headed from Atlanta to Dallas.

Man pleads guilty to fatal shooting on Natchez Trace Parkway

SUMMARY: Cristian Mitchel Mondragon Gonzales, 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder related to a 2018 homicide on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Following a fight at a party on September 23, 2018, Gonzales pursued the victim, convincing him to go for a ride. He then shot the victim multiple times after they exited the vehicle. The victim was found the next morning. Gonzales faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and is scheduled for sentencing on February 12, 2025. The case was investigated by the FBI, Natchez Trace Parkway police, and Ridgeland police.
