Farmers bring hay and feed to Greene Co. after Helene flooding impacts
SUMMARY: Farmers are vital to East Tennessee, particularly in counties hard-hit by Hurricane Helen. In response to the devastation, over 60 farmers, led by Shay Dan Perman from Clay County, organized a group called Farmers Helping Farmers to provide aid. They delivered hay and feed to those who lost everything due to flooding. While recognizing their efforts are just a small part of what’s needed for recovery, the support brings hope to affected farmers. Milton, an agent at the UT extension office, emphasized the positive impact of community solidarity amidst the hardships, highlighting their commitment to continue aiding neighboring counties.
