Family rescued from Reservoir after boat catches on fire
SUMMARY: Three family members were rescued after their boat caught fire near Pelican Cove Grill in Ridgeland, Mississippi, at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12. According to Reservoir Police Chief Carlos DiPuma, the incident happened as the family was getting gas for their boat, which backfired and started smoking as they left the dock. The father, daughter, and granddaughter had to jump into the water and were subsequently rescued by another nearby boat. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The incident drew responses from Reservoir police, firefighters, Ridgeland firefighters, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).
