SUMMARY: A new bipartisan bill in South Carolina aims to lower income taxes from the current 6.2% to a flat rate of 3.99% by 2026, potentially decreasing to 2.49% as economic conditions improve. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Though no structures are immediately threatened, around 500 homes are under voluntary evacuation orders. Difficult conditions, including hurricane debris and dry, windy weather, are complicating firefighting efforts. Burn bans remain in place in both North and South Carolina.
