Hurricane Helene response takes center stage at Trump rally | National
SUMMARY: At a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump criticized the federal government‘s response to Hurricane Helene, which caused severe flooding across six states and resulted in over 220 deaths. He condemned the $750 aid offered to victims, arguing it is inadequate compared to the billions sent to foreign countries. Trump also targeted Vice President Kamala Harris for focusing on social events while victims awaited help. He has denounced FEMA for prioritizing funding for migrant resettlement over disaster relief, highlighting public officials‘ dissatisfaction with the government’s initial assistance and encouraging criticisms of the administration’s priorities.

Tropical Storm Milton track, models
SUMMARY: Over a week after Hurricane Helene caused extensive damage, the area is experiencing a welcome stretch of dry weather. Today and tomorrow will see plenty of sunshine with temperatures in the low to mid 80s before a cooldown arrives on Tuesday, bringing highs in the 70s and possible overnight lows in the 50s and 40s, especially in higher elevations. Although hurricane season continues, most tropical activity in the Atlantic poses no threat to the region. A system in the Gulf of Mexico may develop into a tropical storm but is expected to remain south of the Carolinas, allowing for continued pleasant weather locally.
Tropical Storm Milton has formed and is expected to become a hurricane.
