FAFSA applications delayed
SUMMARY: Spring 2024 applications for students looking to apply for financial aid will be ready by spring 2024. The FAFSA simplification act, designed to streamline the application process, will go into effect for the 2024 award year. The form that uses parent’s income and other information to determine a student’s financial need typically opens on October 1st. However, there may be a delay in the process due to crunch time on institutions and adjustments to deadlines. Most institutions start packaging new students each year, usually in January, and the application is expected to be available again in that time.

SUMMARY: Local shoppers in Tupelo are hopeful for a Target store after years of anticipation. The Tupelo City Council recently approved an agreement to incentivize the retailer, including infrastructure improvements to alleviate traffic. While some community members express excitement about the shopping options, Target has not confirmed its plans for Tupelo, as its future store openings do not currently include the city. Despite recent mixed earnings reports, company officials remain optimistic about their long-term prospects.
