Nick's Friday PM Forecast 11/1
SUMMARY: Happy Friday, Pine Belt! November is here, and I hope you enjoyed Halloween—I certainly did with some candy. Recently, we received half an inch of rain after a three-week dry spell, with lingering showers in areas like Pike County. However, expect mostly cloudy skies with just a few sprinkles, so enjoy Friday Night Lights without worry. The tropics are also changing as hurricane season wraps up, with low pressure expected but unlikely to impact South Mississippi. Remember to prepare for earlier sunsets at 5 PM, but we should stay warm despite the shorter days. Enjoy your weekend!

Sawmill Square in Laurel expected to welcome Hobby Lobby store
SUMMARY: Hobby Lobby is set to open at The Sawmill Square Mall in Laurel, taking over the former JC Penney location. This development is seen as a significant boost for both the mall and Laurel’s economy, as city leaders hope it revitalizes the area. The presence of Hobby Lobby is anticipated to attract more tenants and encourage shoppers to stay local, reducing the need for residents to travel to neighboring markets like Hattiesburg. With plans to enhance existing businesses, Mayor Johnny McGee is optimistic that the mall can regain its vitality. The store is expected to open in early 2025.
