Ex-Louisville cop guilty of violating Breonna Taylor's civil rights
SUMMARY: Former Louisville police officer Brett Hinson was found guilty of violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights during a police raid on her apartment in March 2020. A jury convicted him of using excessive force but acquitted him of violating the civil rights of three neighbors present during the incident. Officers executed a no-knock warrant seeking Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, resulting in a chaotic encounter where her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired at what he believed were intruders. Hinson blindly fired 10 rounds into Taylor’s apartment, with none hitting anyone. This was Hinson’s third trial, and he now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

A jury on Friday found former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison guilty of violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights during a botched 2020 police raid, in a retrial of the federal case against him.
