Nashville’s property reassessment is underway. Here’s what that means for your tax bills — and city revenues.
SUMMARY: Nashville is conducting its property reappraisal, evaluating 281,000 parcels across Davidson County. The reassessment, which happens every four years, considers changes in market conditions, such as population growth and neighborhood popularity. Property values impact tax bills, a significant source of revenue for the city. Metro adjusts the tax rate to ensure “revenue-neutral” conditions, but potential tax increases may still occur. Residents can seek relief through programs for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. Property Assessor Vivian Wilhoite emphasizes the goal is fairness, ensuring homeowners aren’t overpaying. Presentations on the process are being held across the county.
