SUMMARY: Tensions are escalating in Townsend over a proposed event center, with community members expressing concerns that it could disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the Smokies. During a meeting, locals criticized the Blount Partnership, claiming it prioritizes profit over citizens’ interests. Mayor Don Prader clarified that the city did not reject events, contrary to rumors, and emphasized the importance of the visitor center for the community.
