Escambia County Sheriff’s Office busts the 36th drug house in 2024, man arrested on 4 charges of dru
SUMMARY: In Northwest Florida, community members are responding positively as the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office successfully closes down drug houses. Since January, 36 such properties have been shut down, aided by community tips. Sheriff Chip Simmons emphasizes that these operations rely on local input to identify suspicious activity. Recently, a home on Leadbetter Lane was raided, leading to the arrest of Jamal Dorch and the seizure of meth, hydrocodone, marijuana, ammunition, and cash. The Sheriff’s Office has confiscated significant quantities of drugs, including 18,000 grams of meth and 3,700 grams of fentanyl this year, contributing to safer neighborhoods.
The Escambia County Narcotics Unit and SWAT team closed down the 36th drug house since January of this year.

Man Arrested in Lancewood Drive Shooting | Sept. 18, 2024 | News 19 at 4 p.m.
SUMMARY: Markieff Jackson has been arrested in Huntsville for a shooting incident that occurred Monday evening on Lance Wood Drive. He faces charges of aggravated first-degree assault against a non-family member and is detained on a $30,000 bond. Police arrived at the scene shortly before 4:30 PM and found a victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Huntsville Police said that Markeith Jackson has been arrested for the shooting on Lancewood Drive that happened on Monday.

“Arti Gras” aims to improve small Mobile park
SUMMARY: Neighbors in a historic mobile neighborhood are revitalizing a small City Park through the Arty GR event this weekend. Local artists have donated their work for sale or raffle to raise funds for improvements in the pocket park located in the Detonti Square Historic District. Hot and dry this week for Alabama

Although fall officially starts on Sunday at 7:43 PM, it will feel more like summer with upper 80s expected. Attention will also be on upcoming tropical weather developments.
