EPA enters agreement to sell Mississippi Phosphates plant in Pascagoula

SUMMARY: The former Mississippi Phosphates plant in Pascagoula is set to be sold and redeveloped as a dry bulk storage and tank terminal operation by Seven Seas Terminals. The site which is currently on the Superfund National Priorities List due to contamination has been under ongoing cleanup by the Environmental Protection Agency since 2018. Under the purchase agreement, Seven Seas is to remove certain chemicals and infrastructure, install a containment cap, test and manage any contaminated soil, and allow EPA continued access to parts of the site. The construction will take several years and ultimately create 25 to 30 jobs.
