Emmett Till Monuments Proclamation
SUMMARY: There were big crowds at the State History Museum today, where they had free admission. Three new monuments will be created to honor Emmett Till, a man who was killed in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman. Many people hope that these monuments will help change how people see each other today. Till's story is being commemorated on his birthday, and the president signed a proclamation creating the monuments. Despite Till's killers being acquitted, they later confessed. The organization Higher Purpose sponsored the free admission and hopes Till's story continues to be told. Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes wants a plaque at Medgar Evers Boulevard to better honor Till, and a measure will be presented for it on the city council agenda.

Skilled to Work: Energizing the Electrical Trade
SUMMARY: The trade industry faces a shortage of skilled workers, particularly electricians, as experienced professionals age out. Electricians are essential in installing electrical, lighting, and control systems in buildings. Jeff Franks, Electrical Technology Program Director at ICC, aims to develop a steady stream of skilled workers to meet high demand. Students in the program can work in manufacturing, residential construction, and various environments across the U.S., earning while they learn. The median pay for electricians is over $60,000, with Mississippi requiring a license for the profession.
