Elderly man accused of firing multiple gunshots at Marion County school identified
SUMMARY: Authorities have identified 76-year-old Timothy Ward, who allegedly fired shots from an airsoft gun at West Marion Primary School in Mississippi on Thursday morning. School staff recognized Ward as an intruder and attempted to escort him out when he threatened employees with the firearm. A janitor intervened, subduing Ward until police arrived. The firearm was determined to be a CO2-style air pistol. Ward faces charges of making terroristic threats and two counts of kidnapping. The Marion County Sheriff praised the staff member’s bravery and confirmed that the incident is under investigation by local and state agencies.

General Atomics partners with Israeli defense company to produce missile in Tupelo
SUMMARY: General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems has partnered with Israeli defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to manufacture the “Bullseye” missile in Tupelo, Mississippi. The long-range, precision-guided missile will be designed for air, ground, and sea launches. It will offer cost-effective strike capabilities for U.S. military and coalition partners. Bullseye’s modular design allows for scalable development, upgrades, and interoperability with multiple Department of Defense requirements. The missile’s design is at Technology Readiness Level 8, with testing ongoing. Production is set to begin in late 2025, with the missile meeting U.S. military standards and being assembled at General Atomics’ Tupelo center.

Mississippi represented on both teams in NCAA men’s basketball championship
