Egg prices are surging, so why are chicken prices stable?
SUMMARY: A bird flu outbreak has caused egg prices to soar, up 53% from last year, while chicken meat prices remain stable. The difference stems from the fact that broiler chickens, raised for meat, have been less affected by the outbreak compared to egg-laying hens. Broilers have a shorter life cycle, reducing exposure to the virus, and can be replaced quickly. In contrast, egg-layers take longer to mature and are housed in larger flocks. While egg prices are expected to rise another 20% in 2025, chicken meat prices are predicted to decrease slightly.

Senators lash out over CDC firings | Georgia
SUMMARY: Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock criticized the Trump administration’s decision to fire over 1,000 CDC employees, many of whom were hired after Trump took office. They called the move reckless and politically motivated, arguing it undermined public health and left Americans vulnerable to diseases like measles and tuberculosis. The American Federation of Government Employees condemned the firings, claiming they were part of a politically-driven agenda to dismantle the federal workforce. The union vowed to fight back, stating that the firings were not based on performance but aimed at consolidating power and promoting cronyism over competence.
