East Coast still recovering from Hurricane Helene | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: The town of Helen in Western North Carolina has faced devastating destruction, with floodwaters rising over 26 feet, exceeding previous records. The aftermath resembles scenes from a Category 5 hurricane, leaving the area covered in mud and severely impacting fresh water and power supply. Residents are struggling without assistance, as they have yet to see help from FEMA or Red Cross. Many are resorting to desperate measures, including kayaking to rescue those trapped in their homes. President Biden recently visited affected communities, pledging federal support for recovery, while locals wait for emergency funds to aid their restoration efforts.
Another hurricane could be headed for the east coast. Hurricane Kirk is now a Cat. 4 storm and could case life-threatening surf and rip current conditions this weekend.

Governmental immunity means water tank explosion damage to homes isn't covered by MUD
SUMMARY: A water tank explosion in northwest Houston has caused significant damage to two homes, leaving the families involved feeling helpless and frustrated. The incident, stemming from the Reed Road Municipal Utility District, resulted in extensive water damage and repair costs expected to reach tens of thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, both families learned that the entity is protected by governmental immunity, meaning they may be responsible for all repair expenses. Despite reaching out to their insurance companies, they face delays due to the classification of the event as an explosion. The families express deep concern, especially for their elderly loved ones affected by the damage.
Two families are trying to figure out what to do after a water tank exploded and flooded their homes.
