Early voting turnout continues to set records on day 2 | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Record-breaking early voting turnout continues in Georgia, with nearly 990,000 ballots cast as of Wednesday morning. Gabriel Sterling, COO of the Secretary of State’s office, attributes this excitement to both Republicans and Democrats eager to voice their opinions. The state has implemented new technology to ensure a secure and smooth voting process, with many voters appreciating the lack of lines during early voting. Fulton County set a new record of 39,000 votes on the first day, compared to previous years. Voting early also helps reduce the influx of reminder texts and calls. Overall, the election is deemed safe and fair.
State election officials say they are still seeing record-breaking turnout for early voting for a second day. A one-on-one with Secretary of State’s COO Gabriel Sterling.

Kemp requests $614M in Georgia hurricane relief | Georgia
SUMMARY: Georgia Governor Brian Kemp plans to amend the fiscal year 2025 budget to allocate over $614 million for hurricane relief, following Hurricane Helene’s devastation last September. Of this amount, $300 million is designated for the Georgia Department of Transportation for debris cleanup and repairs, while $150 million will reimburse FEMA for disaster response costs. Kemp also emphasizes a proposed income tax reduction and an additional $1 billion for education, including school safety grants and reduced prekindergarten class sizes. Trump proposes 'getting rid of FEMA' while visiting North Carolina
SUMMARY: During his visit to hurricane-affected North Carolina, President Trump indicated he might eliminate FEMA, describing it as “very bureaucratic” and failing in its disaster response role. Advocating for state-led disaster management, he suggested that local governments could handle emergencies more efficiently. Trump’s comments come as he plans to tour wildfire-stricken areas in California, where he criticized state water policies. His history of politicizing disaster relief has drawn backlash, with critics arguing that federal aid should be impartial. Despite past controversies, some constituents express hope for improved support under Trump’s leadership amidst ongoing recovery efforts.
