Drug ring based out of Memphis nightclub leads deputies to 24 kilos of cocaine

SUMMARY: A year-and-a-half investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office led to a significant drug bust at Club Insight in Southwest Memphis. Authorities seized 24 kilograms of cocaine, 52 grams of fentanyl, and a large quantity of marijuana in February 2023. The operation resulted in 16 indictments linked to the club, which served as the drug ring’s base. Investigators emphasized their commitment to tracking down drug dealers, stating it’s only a matter of time before they are caught. Four of the indicted individuals have prior felony convictions, while Club Insight remains operational.

One year since Riley Strain went missing

SUMMARY: Tonight marks one year since Missouri college student Riley Strain disappeared after a night out in Nashville. The 22-year-old, visiting for a conference with his fraternity, was kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge on March 8th. Surveillance footage showed Riley stumbling near Church Street and speaking briefly with an officer on Gay Street. After that, he was not seen again. His body was found two weeks later, about 8 miles from downtown, with an autopsy ruling his death accidental, linked to high blood alcohol levels. The tragedy led to safety improvements along the Nashville Riverfront to prevent future incidents.
