The Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association predicts that beef prices could rise by 10 to 15 percent in the next 6 months due to many cattle operations having to sell their herds. The long-term effect could be a decrease in beef producers. The region desperately needs more sustained rainfall to end the drought. Cattle producers are hoping for state and national help to offset rising costs.
