Drier and Cooler to End 2024, Seasonable New Year’s Day: Tuesday Evening Forecast 12/31/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner reports a cold front that will keep temperatures seasonable in the coming days. Another front is expected to bring frigid conditions next week, starting Sunday into Monday, with lows dropping into the 20s. While it’s too early to predict wintry precipitation, the second half of next week will be notably cold. Currently, conditions are dry and cooler across the region, with temperatures around 60°F in Mobile and Northwest Florida. New Year’s Eve festivities will see temperatures drop into the low 50s by 11 p.m. Tomorrow, expect dry conditions, a high of 60°F, and continued sunshine.

We will end 2024 with clear and cooling conditions across the Gulf Coast! For your New Year’s Eve plans, temperatures will be dropping into the 40’s tonight with some inland spots sitting in the upper-30’s. Rain chances stay out of the picture into New Year’s Day and Thursday as well. Highs over the next couple of days will push to around 60°. Another front will pass on Friday, so a brief shower is possible overnight Thursday and into Friday. Lows stay at around 40 Thursday night. Friday’s front will keep things dry and cooler for most of the weekend, but another front will approach the area Sunday bringing a chance for showers and storms Sunday into Monday. Very cold air will move in behind that front with lows dropping into the 20’s and 30’s for multiple days with highs at around 50.

EXCLUSIVE: Prichard mother relieved after day care worker accused of abusing son is arrested
SUMMARY: Charlina Glenn’s persistence led to the arrest of daycare worker Kia Baldwin after Glenn’s 8-month-old son, Jamari, was found with bruises, allegedly from abuse at The Lighthouse Academy in Pritchard. Baldwin initially claimed Jamari choked on a rock, but his injuries were consistent with abuse. Despite initial inaction from authorities, Glenn reached out to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, which reviewed surveillance footage showing Baldwin violently slamming Jamari into a crib. Baldwin was arrested on March 13, charged with child abuse, and fired from the daycare. Her court date is set for March 27.

Charlena Glenn says her 8-month-old son was abused at a Prichard day care, and it took almost a month for an arrest to be made.
