Dozens of dogs, several horses seized in animal cruelty investigation
SUMMARY: Over two dozen neglected animals, including 45 dogs and 4 horses, were rescued from an abusive home in Madison County, where they were found malnourished and in deplorable conditions. Wesley Kiser has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Rescue agencies, including Cheshire Abbey, are working to rehabilitate the animals and find them safe homes. Mississippi cartoonist and author reads new children's book in Tupelo
SUMMARY: Famous illustrator Marshall Ramsey visited downtown Tupelo to sign his newest book at Reed’s Gum Tree Bookstore. The book features a little brown dog named Banjo on a mission to find his missing friend, Sam. In addition to the book signing, children enjoyed a story time session with Ramsey. He is recognized as the editor at large and cartoonist for Mississippi Today.

Event brings awareness to breast health
SUMMARY: On the last Friday of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jackson‘s parking lot was filled with pink as Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated and other sponsors highlighted breast health. The event outside CenterWell Senior Primary Care featured free bra fittings from Dillard’s, demonstrations on self-exams, and even a mobile mammogram unit. An organizer, a breast cancer survivor, aimed to encourage women to prioritize their health, expressing hope that any issues found would be caught early for better treatment. Additionally, organizers promoted COVID and flu vaccinations and provided free food to attendees.
