Douglas High Students Help Build Beds for Children in Need | Nov. 18, 2024 | News 19 at 4 p.m.

SUMMARY: A national organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, ensures every child has a soft place to sleep. Recently, a new chapter was opened in Marshall County, inspired by its success in nearby areas. Volunteers, including students from Douglas High School, participated in building beds from scratch, gaining hands-on woodworking experience. Teachers emphasized the importance of community service. The beds, fully constructed and ready with mattresses, were delivered to children in need. Originally, 15-20 beds were planned, but the volunteers managed to build over 70, demonstrating remarkable dedication to helping others.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace recently opened a chapter in Marshall County, and with the help of Douglas High School students, held their first bed build on Monday.
