Double amputee Sonic Boom member an inspiration on, off the field

SUMMARY: Jahkee Johnson, a double leg amputee born with a rare condition, plans to walk across the state at Jackson State University’s commencement. He chose a career in physical health and recreational therapy, inspired by his own disability. Johnson plays the trombone with the Sonic Boom of the South and pursued his studies at JSU. Despite challenges, he remains determined and will graduate on May 4. Johnson was born with tibial hemimelia and his mother made the decision to amputate his legs. Grateful for her choice, Johnson believes it shaped a different, more positive future for him.
